On the 4th of May 2019, I conducted again the National Children’s Remebrance Choir at the George Maduroplein before Madurodam. In this memorial service for and by children, the Second World War has been remembered, this year with special attention to ’75 years of freedom’. The choir, that was over 200 children from primary schools and children’s choirs from all over Holland, has sung – next to the Dutch National anthem ‘Wilhelmus’ – the song ‘In The Silence’ by Glyn Lehmann. Ice storm, sunshine, rainbow: it all came to pass, but it was a beautiful memorial service. All participants can be proud of this day!
